History
Churu is the ancestral seat of Kandhalot clan of Rathores. Rulers of Churu are descendants of Rao Kandhalji's, son Rao Vanir. The Chief is the premiere noble of Bikaner State and enjoys Dohri Tazim and Kurab Hath in Bikaner Darbar. The estate ranks sixth among the nobles of Bikaner, and consisted of 21 villages. Churu was one of the most influential thikana in Bikaner state. Due to its powerful demeanor, Churu was often mired in confrontation with Bikaner state, which further, led to various conflicts. Resultant the rulers in 19th century lost the Tazim of Churu and were granted Kuchor. Churu was later reinstated to its rightful rulers.
