History
Founder of the family was Shri Valabhasinh Cholaraj Ghorpade, the second son of Raja Cholaraj Ghorpade of Mudhol. The estate was recognized by the British Government as a saranjam and had been declared by the Bombay High Court in 1868 to be partible, the issue was re-examined in 1891 and the Government passed a Resolution in 1891 stating that "the whole of the Gajendragad estate was a saranjam continuable as hereditary in the fullest sense of the word".

- Shrimant Sardar Bhujangrao I Daulatrao Ghorpade Hindurao, Saranjamdar of Gajendragad 1864/1881, married Shrimant Rani Krishnabai, she adopted a relative on 3rd February 1882 who was recognised as the heir in respect of that portion of the estate which lay within the Principality of Kolhapur; the adoption was later recognized by the Bombay Government, regarding the property in British India, and a resolution was passed on the 26th of April 1882, embodying the above decision. He died sp 1881.

- Shrimant Babasaheb Bahirojirao Daulatrao Ghorpade, married Bai Abayabai, she adopted her nephew, Shrimant Vijaysinhrao Dattajirao on 10th July 1941. He died .

- Shrimant Vijaysinhrao Dattajirao Ghorpade, adopted by Bai Abayabai, widow of Shrimant Babasaheb Bahirojirao Ghorpade on 10th July 1941.
- Shrimant Sardar Bhujangrao III Daulatrao Ghorpade Hindurao, Saranjamdar of Gajendragad 1932/-, he was granted the Saranjam of Gajendragad by order of the Government of Bombay on 7th June 1932. He died after 1952.
