History
The State of Rajgarh was founded in 1560. The founder of the State was Nanaji. In 1560 he accompanied emperor Akbar to Malwa in defeating Baz Bahadur and there, with considerable dash and bravery also defeated the Nobles belonging to the Mangari Sect. For this act of loyalty and valour the emperor established him on the Gaddee of Rajgarh in 1561 and also presented to him villages of Maheshwar, Dharampore, Bhwaniya, Lawani and Nalchha, Betma etc. along with various gifts of honour including Danka, Nishan, Chhari, Abdagiri and Jari Poshak, etc. The State also had the honour of being admitted as ‘guaranteed’ by Sir John Melcolm. Raja Saheb Ram Singhji, grandfather of present ruler, represented 14th generation from the founder of the State, succeeded Raja Saheb Ratansinghji on the 5th April 1930, He had civil and criminal powers.
