History
The rulers of Ridi are descendants of Maharajkumar Chattar Singh Ji of Bikaner and are Gajsinghgot sub-clan of Bika Rathore's of the Rathore Dynasty. The same sub-clan as the Lalgadh palace family. The nobles of Ridi are the closest relatives to the Maharaja and Dyodhiwala branch of the Bikaner Royal Family (along with the nobles of Tejrasar) and enjoy the status of Maharaj or Brother. Members from this ancestry served important positions in the erstwhile Maharaja's court and sat next to the Maharajkumar's in the Royal Darbar. After independence several members from the ancestry went on to hold important ranks in the Indian Armed Forces and other offices of stature. The original curation of the Junagadh Fort of Bikaner for tourists was done by Maharaj Devi Singh Ji. The previous base of the family was Khilriya and before that Chattargadh. The residence of the Dyodhiwale nobles of Ridi was the Dalel Niwas of the Junagadh Fort where they continued to reside after Independence until the Fort became a part of the various Royal Trusts in the 1960s. The last Rajkumar or Prince of Bikaner to be born within the Junagadh Fort was Maharaj Pushpendra Singh Ji, son of Air Commodore (Maharaj) Bahadur Singh Ji from this very branch of the Royal Family.
